Cannonfire Photography Team
Jason Cannon
Founder/Owner and Lead Photographer
From professional headshots, corporate headshots, team photos, conferences, to corporate events, Jason loves using stunning photos to visually tell the stories of your business. Beginning with a degree in Journalism from the University of Florida, Jason built his career in the magazine and fine art industries. He is passionate about serving the people of our Orlando, West Orange, and surrounding Central Florida communities with personalized and high energy photography experiences. He and his wife Kara collaborate on strategies for their corporate photography clients to improve their brand identity and visibility.
Jason is a longtime professional in the photography industry and he founded Cannonfire Photography in 1996. He enjoys volunteer coaching his son’s school running team (after many years of running in marathons and triathlons), cheering on local sports teams, relaxing on sunny days with his family at New Smyrna Beach, and volunteering with local non-profit and community organizations.
Gil Hidalgo
Associate Photographer
Specializing in corporate and editorial portraits, as well as advertisement, commercial, events and industrial photography, Gil is a storyteller who uses photography to tell your extraordinary story.
At the age of 8 he moved to Spain. As his family was preparing for the trip, Gil asked a family member if he could have their old camera, as the most natural thing for a traveler would be to have a camera in hand. “I wish I could tell you that those images of my arrival to Spain marked the start of a wonderful career, but sadly, that first roll of film stayed in my pant’s pocket all the way through the wash and tumble-dry cycles!”
Fast forward to high school, Gil’s neighbor started a home-based black & white dark room where he would spend hours every afternoon in the dark developing film and prints. Beyond high school, he worked as a photographer for a few local newspapers in his hometown of Ponce, Puerto Rico as well as for his college newspaper. His career ranged from dark room custom printer for Kodak/Qualex, Quality control for chemicals at Fuji Tru-Color, aerial photographer, college football photographer, as well as a photography studio owner. In July 2000, he was hired as the staff photographer for Siemens-Westinghouse, now known as Siemens-Energy, out of Orlando, Florida where he worked for 21 years as the company grew.
“Objects through the lens are more extraordinary than they appear!” - Gil
Kara Cannon
Co-Owner and Studio Manager
Kara is passionate about all the details behind the scenes for Cannonfire Photography. Kara loves to use the power of effective copywriting and content writing for digital marketing strategies. She believes that writing should be a complement to compelling photography images. Kara manages the administrative details of the on-location studio so that the photography team can focus on their creative gifts.
Kara’s Spotify playlist is very diverse as she shuttles the three Cannon kids to all the places they need to go. She loves singing with a community choir, quoting “Gilmore Girls” (regular seasons 1-6, thank you), and craves listening to the ocean on beautiful Florida beach days.
